world's largest study of its kind.
Co-founder of the Norwich Medical School.

Ms Sarah Downey (UK)
President of the Association of Breast Surgery, UK.
Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at James Paget University Hospital and the
Director of Breast Screening Divisional Director and Honorary Senior Lecturer at
the University of East Anglia.
As of 2025/2026, she serves as the President of the Association of Breast Surgery
(ABS).
She was the Chair of the General Surgery Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC),
overseeing national training standards.
The Royal College of Surgeons of England, served as the Chair of the Court of
Examiners and is a member of the Invited Review Mechanism.
Mr Henry J Cain (UK)
MBChB (Hons) FRCS, MD
Consultant Oncoplastic Surgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon
Tyne, in 2013. Driving improvements in surgical care, he led the introduction of
Radioactive Seed Localisation of impalpable breast cancer and post neo-adjuvant
chemotherapy I125 seed Targeted Axillary Dissection to the UK.
With significant recruitment into national trials, he is the surgical lead
Co-Investigator for the NOSTRA trial and the Chief Investigator for the PRE-DX
national RCT.
In 2025 he was appointed to the ABS executive (Honorary Treasurer) and the Breast
Surgical Specialties lead for research at the Royal College of Surgeons.
Mr Ibrahim Sallam (UK)
Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS
Foundation Trust, primarily based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
Research Focus: His academic work involves advancing techniques in breast partial
reconstruction, lymphatic mapping (using systems like Magtrace), and improving
patient-reported outcomes following surgery.
BASO Council: Appointed as a National Committee Member (Trustee) of the British
Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO) in November 2024.
Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow. Member of the Inclusion
Advisory Committee of the College. Question writing committee member of the
colleges. And serves as UK core Training Program Selection committee member.
